ECTS 2020 goes virtual

ECTS 2020 goes virtual and becomes ECTS 2020 Digital Congress – Enjoy 3-days of cutting-edge and lively exchanges at the Live Prime Time from 22-24 October 2020, and immerse yourself in additional educational content delivered directly to you during ECTS@Home weekly classes, starting in September.  

Registrations for the Digital ECTS 2020 will open in August.  If you already registered for the Marseille event, your registration will be automatically transferred to the virtual edition of the meeting. 

The Scientific Programme will remain unchanged, but the Scientific Programme Committee is currently developing a variety of formats to produce the most engaging presentations and discussions, featuring key opinion leaders from around the world. All at your fingertips and this year at a very special registration rate, so as we transition #ECTS2020 into a digital experience, make sure the dates are saved in your calendar.  More info to be provided soon.

Why ECTS 2020 will be held virtually ?

ECTS priority is the safety and well-being of delegates and all partners, while maintaining a high level of quality of the scientific programme.

After careful review of the COVID-19 outbreak and measures to manage the spread, ECTS has decided that a digital congress is the best way to bring the ECTS community together and to grant everyone flexibility in accessing the scientific content, while complying with health recommendations.

Are the pre-congress programme and ancillary events also being held virtually?

Yes, the full programme will be organised within ECTS 2020 Digital Congress as follows:

  • Live Prime Time: from 22-24 October 2020 and it will include Clinical and Basic Workshops, Plenary Symposia, ECTS-ASBMR Debate, Big Clinical Session, Oral Presentations, Educational Symposia, Industry supported sessions, Exhibition and Posters.
  • ECTS@Home: weekly webinars from September-December 2020 and it will include the Pre-congress programme including Workshops, National Day and Working Groups, Clinical and Basic Science Update, Meet the Experts.
  • ECTS 2020 On-Demand: after a session is being held, you can access registered presentations and Q&A on demand.

The full scientific programme will be available on the congress website soon.

Will ECTS 2020 Digital take place at the same time as the original congress?
The Live Prime Time will be streamed between 22-24 October 2020.  All sessions will be based on Central European Time.

The ECTS@Home Programme will be held between September until December 2020 as a weekly webinar session.

All sessions will be recorded and available after on demand.

How can I register to the ECTS virtual congress?

Registration can be done online and will start on 17 August 2020.

Is my registration confirmation still valid?

Yes, all delegate registrations will be automatically transferred to the ECTS 2020 Digital Congress, this includes the programme for the Live Prime Time, ECTS@Home and ECTS 2020 On Demand.

I have paid the registration fee but am not able to attend the virtual congress. Will I be refunded?

If your individual circumstances require and justify a full refund, please e-mail us on ects2020-reg@interplan.de outlining your situation.

Will it be possible to get credit points when attending the virtual congress?

An application to receive credit points for ECTS 2020 Digital Congress has been submitted and details for accreditation will be available soon.

Will a certificate of attendance be available?

Within two weeks after the virtual congress, participants will receive an e-mail and be able to download their congress attendance certificates.

Can I make a claim a refund for my travel costs?

Please contact your travel agent directly regarding this query.  We also advise you to consult the terms and conditions of your airline and if applicable any travel insurance you may have.

Can I claim a refund for my accommodation costs?

If you have booked your hotel through the ECTS congress website, or Interplan your room has been released. You do not need to take any action to cancel your room.

Do I need any specific tools or software to attend the ECTS virtual congress?

No, no specific tool or software is needed to attend ECTS 2020 Digital.  The only requirement is an Internet-capable end device (PC or laptop, tablet, smartphone) and a stable Internet connection.

The ECTS@Home will be held using GotoWebinar or Zoom Webinar.

What if I will not be available during a certain session?

All sessions and lectures will be available on-demand after the congress, until the end of December 2020.

Will there be an exhibition?

Yes, there will be a virtual exhibition area.

Will my abstract still be accepted to present for the virtual congress?

Yes, it will.  All accepted abstracts will be automatically transferred to the Live Prime Time from 22-24 October 2020.  All New Data Abstracts will be presented as posters.

Further information on the format of the presentation will be communicated soon.

The Live Prime Time will include an eposter area.

Will my abstract still be published in Bone Reports supplement?

Yes, all abstracts that will be presented, or part of the eposters during ECTS 2020 Digital will be published in the supplement.

Will I be able to amend my accepted abstracts?

No, unfortunately not. But of course you can add data to the poster or oral presentation as you deem appropriate.

I have been awarded a New Investigator Award / Travel Grant.  Will it be valid for the new dates?

Yes, all New Investigator awards presented during ECTS 2020 Digital are maintained.  All  awardees of a Travel Grant will benefit from free registration to the virtual congress, plus one-year free ECTS 2021 membership.

When is my new presentation scheduled for?

The Scientific Programme Committee is currently reviewing the scientific programme.

What happens if I am not available anymore?

Why is ECTS 2020 being postponed?

After careful review of the COVID-19 outbreak and national measures to manage the spread, ECTS has decided to postpone ECTS 2020 to 20-24 October 2020, same venue in Marseille, France.

Our priority is the safety and well-being of delegates and all partners, while maintaining a high level of quality of the scientific programme.

Are the pre-congress programme and ancillary events also postponed?

Yes, all ancillary events organized by ECTS have been postponed to 20-24 October 2020.  A new detailed programme will be available soon.

The ECTS Annual General Meeting is maintained for Saturday 16 May 2020 at 12.30hrs and will be held online.  All ECTS members will receive an official invitation in due course.
